I just received this item and so far the only thing it functions as is a mouse. None of the other keys function and every time I press a media key such as play, pause, volume up/down my computer immediately shuts down and when restarted I get a windows error message that a problem with an application caused windows to shut down. There is no support resources from the manufacturer online or by phone. Because I like the trackball feature a lot I’m going to try a 3rd party software such as girder and see if I can get it to function as a remote. The software included is not much help and I suspect it is the source of my system’s crashes. If I don’t get it to function properly I’ll be returning it. Do not buy this if you want an easy to setup remote for Windows Vista or Windows 7 Media Center.

Unsure as to the reasons for the other reviewers negative experience with this remote in Windows 7 but it works really well on my Windows 7 rig! All buttons work as they should & the distance is fine for at least 15 meters.

    Go for it!
